Williamsburg Cobalt Oil Colors
We are extremely proud of our cobalts. These pigments are collected from all over the world and chosen primarily for their beauty. We carefully grind each pigment as delicately as possible. Some pigments are left slightly granular to leave larger surfaces which reflect more light and insure a suuperb, matte velvet quality. Cobalts, properly ground, can be the most ephemeral, beautiful, glowing and mysterious colors available. Cobalts are never electric.
Cobalt Blue
#927 Cobalt Blue
Cobalt Aluminate - PB28
Semi-Opaque / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

Double ground with double pigment. Normally translucent.
We give this color the covering strength and luminosity of a cadmium. A true spectrum blue. Neither warm nor cool. Very highly saturated.

Cobalt Blue Deep
#937 Cobalt Blue Deep
Cobalt Aluminate - PB28
Semi-Opaque / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

This color is richer, deeper, more translucent and ever so slightly more purple than our regular Cobalt Blue. Like willow-ware china.

Cobalt Green Light
#1088 Cobalt Green Pale
Cobalt Zincate - PG19
Semi-Transparent / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

Dense, opaque pale variety of Cobalt Green. Unique color space for landscape artists looking to establish flat underpaintings.

Cobalt Teal #787 Cobalt Teal
Cobalt Titanate Green Spinel - PG50
Opaque / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

A very, very strong color. This is not a mix or tint, but the absolutely most intense turquoise we have ever seen. A pure cobalt with no adulterants. It is very exotic, almost Caribbean or Moroccan in feeling.

#898 Cobalt Teal Deep
Cobalt Aluminate Blue Spinel - PG28
Opaque / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

Another very strong and beautiful, pure cobalt. Not a mixer or tinter. Straight ahead color. A tad brighter and richer than Cobalt Teal, a color that was loved so much, we brought you another!

Cobalt Turquoise Greenish
#887 Cobalt Turquoise Greenish

Oxides of Cobalt, Chromium, & Aluminum - PB36
Similar in hue to our regular turquoise, but does not reflect the light back. It absorbs light like velvet and has a most mysterious surface.

Cobalt Violet Deep

Cobalt Phosphate - PV14
Semi-Transparent / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

Richer, Bluer, and stronger than the Violet Light with a beautiful, deep, opaque glow.

Cobalt Violet Light (Reddish)
#728 Cobalt Violet Light (Reddish)
Cobalt Ammonium Phosphate - PV49

Ethereal, delicate, sublime. Not a strong tinter.

Cobalt Yellow (Aureolin)
#508 Cobalt Yellow (Aureolin)
Cobalt Potassium Nitrate - PY40

A spectrum transparent yellow. Clear, limpid, exquisite. Like the yellow in some of Turner's skies.

Cerulean Blue
#848 Cerulean Blue
Cobalt Stannate - PB35
Opaque / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

Velvety, changeable blue. Greenish? Greyish? Warm? Cool? Light and airy or dense and opaque. Absorbs and reflects light in an interesting way.

Cerulean Blue French
#857 Cerulean Blue French
Cobalt Stannate - PB35
Semi-Opaque / Lightfast Rating 1 - Excellent

Similar to our regular Cerulean but made with less tin. Therefore, it's slightly greener and deeper.
